Billed as one of the nation’s largest feminist bookstores, Women and Children First lives up to its name with a proliferation of books by and about women and an extensive children’s section, as well as lesbian and gay fiction and nonfiction and the kind of quality books written by men that you expect to find in any good bookstore. In its small but comfortable corner location in the north side Andersonville neighborhood, WFC hosts four book groups as well as a full schedule of readings and events. Since its humble beginnings in 1979, the store has been known for its support of local authors.
